January 31, 2017:
Brown Buchanan team member, Pat Buchanan (attorney), received a judgment from the Mississippi Court of Appeals, in favor of Kellogg Brown & Root, LLC and its carrier, affirming the Order of the Full Commission denying a workers' compensation claim filed against Kellogg Brown & Root, LLC and its carrier. On behalf of the Employer and Carrier, Pat successfully established that the injury complained of was not causally connected to Claimant's work.

November 2016:

In this lawsuit, Plaintiff was pursuing allegations of premises liability. After aggressively defending the case through discovery, Pat was able to obtain summary judgment for IP.

May 24, 2016:
Brown Buchanan team member, Pat Buchanan (attorney), obtained summary judgment on behalf of the Defendants in a professional malpractice lawsuit filed in Harrison County Circuit Court, First Judicial District. In this lawsuit, Plaintiff alleged claims of fraudulent misrepresentation, negligent misrepresentation, conspiracy, unjust enrichment and slander. Plaintiffs were seeking actual and punitive damages. After aggressively defending the lawsuit, Pat was able to obtain summary judgment.

March 30, 2016:
Brown Buchanan team member, Pat Buchanan (attorney), obtained a Full Commission Order denying a workers' compensation claim filed against Kellogg Brown & Root, LLC and its carrier. The Employer and Carrier contested that the injury complained of was causally connected to Claimant's work. The case was tried on March 4, 2015, and the administrative judge found the injury compensable. Pat appealed the decision to the Commission. The Commission reversed the prior Order and held that the weight of the evidence presented did not support a finding that Claimant sustained a compensable injury.

January 4, 2016:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney), on behalf of Boyd Biloxi, LLC, obtained summary judgment for Boyd in a lawsuit filed in the Circuit Court of Harrison County, Second Judicial District. In this lawsuit, Plaintiff was pursuing allegations of premises liability. After aggressively defending the case through discovery, Pat was able to obtain summary judgment for Boyd.

December 22, 2015:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney), on behalf of Chevron U.S.A. Inc., obtained summary judgment for Chevron in a lawsuit filed in the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Mississippi. In this lawsuit, Plaintiffs were pursuing allegations of premises liability against Chevron. Pat was able to obtain summary judgment based on the issue of workers' compensation immunity because of an Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP).

September 15, 2015:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney), on behalf of Imperial Palace of Mississippi, LLC (IPM), obtained summary judgment for IPM in a lawsuit filed in the Circuit Court of Harrison County, Second Judicial District. In this lawsuit, Plaintiff was pursuing allegations of premises liability. After aggressively defending the case through discovery, Pat was able to obtain summary judgment for IPM.

March 5, 2015:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney), on behalf of Boyd Biloxi, LLC (IPM), obtained the dismissal of a lawsuit filed in the Circuit Court of Harrison County, Second Judicial District. In this lawsuit, Plaintiff was pursuing allegations of premises liability. After demonstrating to the Court that the Plaintiff had provided false testimony as to how the incident occurred, the Court dismissed this lawsuit under Rule 37 of the Mississippi Rules of Civil Procedure.

December 22, 2014:
Brown Buchanan team member, Pat Buchanan (attorney), obtained the denial and dismissal of a workers' compensation claim filed against Kellogg. December 4, 2014:
After a four day trial in the Chancery Court of Jackson County, Mississippi, which included over 100 exhibits, the Brown Buchanan trial team of Pat Buchanan (attorney) and Charlene Langlinais (paralegal) obtained a verdict on behalf of the Defendants they were representing in a professional malpractice lawsuit. In his lawsuit, Plaintiff alleged claims of fraudulent misrepresentation, negligent misrepresentation and breach of fiduciary duties. Plaintiff was seeking actual and punitive damages. The trial court held in favor of the defendants being represented by the Brown Buchanan trial team.

In this workers compensation claim, Pat, after deposing the Claimant and obtaining the relevant medical records, was able to have the claim dismissed based on the two year statute of limitations and the 30 days notice provision of the Act.

Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney), successfully represented Chevron U.S.A. Inc. before the Jackson County Board of Supervisors (Board) in a hearing before the Board regarding an objection to assessed value of a leasehold estate, filed by the Pascagoula Municipal Separate School District (PMSSD). After the hearing before the Board, the Board held that PMSSD did not have standing to raise the objection, PMSSD did not provide Chevron notice of the objection being raised and PMSSD failed to meet its burden of proof necessary to overturn the valuation by the Jackson County Tax Assessor.

In this lawsuit, Plaintiffs raised allegations of premises liability and Dram Shop liability for the death of Plaintiffs' decedent. August 16, 2012:

Mr. Williams was retained to render certain opinions related to agency and duty. After researching, briefing and presenting the issue through oral argument, the Court granted Pat's motion and struck the expert, James Williams.

April 11, 2012:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney), on behalf of Chevron U.S.A. Inc., obtained summary judgment in an employment discrimination lawsuit filed against Chevron. In this lawsuit, Plaintiff alleged he was wrongfully terminated by Chevron in violation of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). After aggressively defending the case through discovery, Pat was able to obtain summary judgment on behalf of Chevron.

February 2, 2012:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney), on behalf of Imperial Palace of Mississippi, LLC (IPM), obtained summary judgment in a lawsuit filed against IPM. In this lawsuit, Plaintiff alleged she was injured after falling in IPM's buffet restaurant. After aggressively defending the case through discovery, Pat was able to obtain summary judgment on behalf of IPM.

January 11, 2012:
After two days of trial in the Circuit Court of Harrison County, Mississippi, Second Judicial District (Biloxi), the Brown Buchanan trial team of Pat Buchanan (attorney) and Charlene Langlinais (paralegal) obtained a directed verdict on behalf of the Defendant Hancock Bank. In his lawsuit, Plaintiff claimed Hancock Bank had negligently converted his monies and was seeking actual and punitive damages. The trial court directed a verdict in favor of Hancock Bank at the close of Plaintiff's case.

December 1, 2011:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney), on behalf of the Defendants, Jon Lucas and Sean Lucas, successfully briefed and argued a Motion to Dismiss. Plaintiff filed a wrongful death lawsuit. After oral arguments, the Court granted the motion, and the Complaint against these Defendants was dismissed.

November 21, 2011:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney), on behalf of Imperial Palace of Mississippi, LLC (IPM), obtained summary judgment in a lawsuit filed against IPM. In this lawsuit, Plaintiff alleged she suffered food poisoning after eating at Defendantís restaurant. September 8, 2011:

In this lawsuit, Plaintiff alleged she injured while on IPM's premises. After some discovery, Pat was able to obtain summary judgment.

May 25, 2011:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney) obtained the dismissal of a lawsuit filed against CSX Transportation, Inc. (CSXT). After Plaintiff filed her lawsuit, Pat met with the Plaintiff and her attorney. After this meeting, the Plaintiff agreed to dismiss her lawsuit. By securing this dismissal early in the litigation, Pat was able to save CSXT the cost of defending this case in federal court.

May 25, 2011:
After 31/2 days of trial in Chancery Court in Harrison County, Brown Buchanan obtained a judgment upholding its client’s pre-nuptial agreement in a divorce action. The Defendant was attempting to set the pre-nuptial agreement aside based on a failure for full and fair disclosure and lack of procedural fairness.

After two days of trial in the County Court of Harrison County, Mississippi, First Judicial District, the Brown Buchanan trial team of Pat Buchanan (attorney) and Charlene Langlinais (paralegal) obtained a directed verdict on behalf of CSX Transportation, Inc. against the Plaintiff in a property damage lawsuit. Plaintiff claimed CSXT was responsible for the total loss of his shrimp boat. The trial court directed a verdict in favor of CSXT at the close of Plaintiff’s case.

September 3, 2010:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney) obtained a dismissal of a workers' compensation claim filed against the employer, Imperial Palace of Mississippi. Claimant was seeking workers' compensation benefits for a back injury she alleged arose out of the course and scope of her employment with the employer. After aggressively defending the claim, Pat was able to obtain a dismissal on behalf of the employer.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:
Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan, attorney, donated his time and resources to establish the Big Red Athletic Foundation. The Foundation is a private, non-profit organization, with 501(c)(3) status, established to support Biloxi Public Schools athletics.

June 3, 2010:
After a three day trial in the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Mississippi, the Brown Buchanan trial team of Pat Buchanan (attorney) and Charlene Langlinais (paralegal) obtained a defense verdict on behalf of CSX Transportation, Inc. against the Plaintiffs in an FELA lawsuit. Plaintiff claimed permanent disabilities, and the inability to return to work, arising from an injury while he was working.

May 5, 2010:
Brown Buchanan team member Patrick Buchanan (attorney) obtained a dismissal, on behalf of the defendant, The Pep Boys, in the United States District Court, Southern District. Plaintiffs filed a product liability action against, among others, Pep Boys. Patrick was able to obtain a dismissal for Pep Boys, after filing a Motion to Dismiss, early in the litigation, saving Pep Boys substantial costs that would have been associated with the defense of this complex product liability case.

April 26, 2010:

Brown Buchanan obtained summary judgment on behalf of the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum of Biloxi, Inc. and its insurance carrier in the Circuit Court of Harrison County, Mississippi, Second Judicial District. The Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum contracted with a contractor for the construction of a pier, including electrical system. The Museum experienced electrical problems with the pier that resulted in damages to the electrical system and pier. On behalf of the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum, Brown Buchanan obtained summary judgment against the contractor who installed the pier and electrical system.

October 12, 2009:

Brown Buchanan team member Melissa Williams (attorney) obtained a dismissal, with prejudice, on behalf of a local realtor in the County Court of Harrison County, Mississippi, First Judicial District. Plaintiff filed suit alleging professional malpractice and negligence; after completing some initial discovery, Melissa was able to obtain a dismissal.

Brown Buchanan obtained summary judgment on behalf of a local realtor in the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Mississippi. Plaintiff alleged professional malpractice and negligence; after briefing and oral argument, the Court granted the Defendant summary judgment.

Brown Buchanan team member Melissa Williams (attorney), representing home owners who ‘s home was severely damaged during Hurricane Katrina, through mediation, obtained a settlement against State Farm on behalf of the homeowners.

After a seven day trial in the Circuit Court of Harrison County, Mississippi, the Brown Buchanan trial team of Pat Buchanan (attorney) and Charlene Langlinais (paralegal) obtained two defense verdicts on behalf of CSX Transportation, Inc. against two Plaintiffs in a consolidated FELA lawsuit. Plaintiffs claimed permanent disabilities, including physical and post traumatic stress disorder, arising from a grade crossing collision.

March 24, 2009:

Brown Buchanan team member Pat Buchanan (attorney) obtained summary judgment on behalf of a local realtor in the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Mississippi. Plaintiff alleged professional malpractice and negligence; after briefing and oral argument, the Court granted the Defendant summary judgment.
